Fred, remember 1970 Parsons drawing office over a lunchtime of cards l asked you if i could join the Rowing club and you said yes you thought l could do it!

so after som basic technique and outings with Fred l was placed into a seniorC crew as they had someone missing these guys had already won at novice and l was newby.

But Fred thought l would fit in okay and he coached us as crew until we won SeniorC at Gravesend regatta the following year. That was the start of many local regattasand Heads rowing with Fred at ERC and for us both 50 years of rowing not together but it planted the seed for rowing in my life and Fred’s Born to Row. Tone
